Crab
“Tends to molt often. Best served as an hors d'oeuvre, deep-fried and whole.”

Strategy[]

  • Almost any combination of units that add to 150+ value will hold this wave.
  • It is fine to build fighters that are weak against Pierce/Fortified (Crab's Attack/Defense Types), knowing that Crabs are so weak that you will probably still clear the wave if you have decent value. Waves 2 and 3 are a lot more threatening, so you will usually want to plan for those instead of worrying about Wave 1.
  • The most you can receive on Wave 1 is a single Snail, so if you are testing an opening, try to make sure it holds (or pro-leaks) a Snail.
  • Some players will build a risky opening like a single Consort or Windhawk, knowing that they will leak even to no send. This allows them to spend more gold on workers and the leak gives extra time for those workers to gather mythium. Alternatively, they might just shift gold for a big fighter/upgrade next wave. This strategy works especially well with Fiesta since you will earn gold when you leak.
  • Because most builds can hold a Snail, many players choose to upgrade the King on Wave 1. This denies their opponent the gold they would have earned from killing a Snail.
